3 Things Every College Student Should Pack For Thanksgiving Break

Out of all the holidays of the year, Thanksgiving is my favorite! What's not to like? You can eat as much food you want without being reprimanded. It's always great to spend time with family members as well! As a college student, packing for Thanksgiving can make the holiday seem overwhelming. Here are 3 things that are essential when packing for Thanksgiving!

Clothes

Thanksgiving is the only holiday that you can cheat on your diet! To prepare for the food, you have to have comfortable clothes. The first thing you should pack is sweat pants or pants that stretch. I love to have a ton of room when eating a huge meal!

Along with the sweatpants, you should pack sweaters. Depending on where you live, the weather can be very cold. Here in Arizona, the temperatures drop as low as 35 degrees!

The very last thing that I like to pack is a small bag of dirty clothes! Living less than a hour away from my family, it's easier for me to do laundry there and save money!

Entertainment

Thanksgiving is a break away from school. If you're lucky enough to not have a lot assignments given to you, take advantage of the free time! Pack you laptop, take a book to read for pleasure! During the school year, I never have time to read for enjoyment! So, if you have a break, use it to read your books that you haven't finished/start!

Schoolwork

The last thing that you want to do on your break is schoolwork but, like many schools, Thanksgiving break is placed the weekend before crunch-time. As soon as Thanksgiving is over, there are a ton of assignments that are due and exams that need to be taken!

The last thing you want to do is have 6 assignments due when you get back. So, take a few of your lighter assignments with you and try to get ahead before your exams. That doesn't mean take your whole course load of books with you. After all, it is break!

What not to Pack:

Don't pack your whole wardrobe! You're only going home for a few days, so there is no need to pack more than you can carry. Also, you can leave some of your toiletries at your place. More than likely, many of your hygiene items are stocked at home. If not, your parents will be more than happy to buy the things you need or forgot!
